Yolando Jacobs-Boone Obituary

Yolando Donese Jacobs-Boone affectionately known as “Wanda Kay” was born on August 22, 1955, in Ocala, Florida to the parents of late Ellie Hugh Jacobs and late Essie Mae Gillum Jacobs. She was the second of four children.

Yolando was educated in the Marion County school system. She further her education by receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa. While at the University of South Florida, she pledged the Zeta Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and was a member of the Gospel Choir.

She received a Master of Theology degree from the United Theological Seminary in Monroe, Louisiana. She was in the process of completing her Doctorate of Theology from Middle Florida Theological Seminary & Bible College.

Yolando became a Christian at an early age attending both Jerusalem Baptist Church (currently New Jerusalem Baptist Church) and Shady Grove Baptist Church (currently New Shady Grove Baptist Church). At the time of her demise, she was an active member of the New Shady Grove Baptist Church. She was still an active member of the O. M. Hawkins Choir and provided access to the church worship service every Sunday morning via FACEBOOK. She was still serving in the position of Dean for the Bethlehem Baptist Association of Ocala.

Yolando was employed with the Marion County School system for 35 years. She retired in 2010. She taught at Howard Middle School and West Port High School. One of the joys of her life was traveling and attending various sporting events of her son Kadron, especially when he played football for the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and played with several National Football League (NFL) teams and a Canadian team. Any opportunity she got to watch her son play football she did not mind traveling. Yolando also enjoyed being a grandmother and a great grandmother.

On February 28, 2022, Yolando answered the master’s call and quietly slept away into His arms. Yolando will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Yolando is survived by her daughter, Kia Weatherspoon; her sons, Kevin Weatherspoon, Kadron Boone, Nathan Brooks, and Derrick Jackson. Siblings, Ellie (Jermele) Jacobs II, Angela Jacobs and Dr. Michelle (Trevor) Jacobs-Elliott. Grandchildren, Kayden, Kaylee, Ka’Lyn, Ava, Savannah, Kamir, Christopher (Savannah) and Zi’Derek Moore; great grand, Tiana; Aunt, Molly (Leon) Smith; Godchildren, Alicia Hanks, Kimberly Weeks, Johnica Samuels, Shannon Buie, and Tiffany Hamilton. Special Friends, Lawanna Croskey Lauretha Mount, Diane Thomas, Jacqueline Boone and Janice Bowser. A host of devoted and loving cousins (near and far), neighbors, friends and family.

Public Visitation will be held on Thursday March 10, 2022, at 1:00 until 5:00PM at Summers Funeral Home 2238 NW 10th Street, Ocala 34475.

Wake Service on Thursday March 10, 2022, at 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Summers Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life services for Mrs. Yolando Jacobs-Boone, will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022, at 11:00 AM, New Shady Grove Memorial Garden (Graveside), 9225 Southwest 27th Avenue, Ocala, FL 34476.
