Deaconess Willie Mae Gillum-Hester
Willie Mae was born in Ocala Florida to the proud parents of Willie and Martha Gillum on July 17, 1936. She was the last of 11 children.
She graduated in the Class of 1954 from Howard Academy. She later met and married William Hester and has lived in Riviera Beach for over 60 years. Together they had five children.
Willie Mae was employed with Palm Beach County School District Food Services for 36 years where she enjoyed cooking and serving students breakfast and lunch on a daily basis.
She was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years. She served in the kitchen during Vacation Bible School, as a Deaconess, regular attendee in Sunday School and a faithful member of Baptist Women A prayer group.
She leaves to mourn her passing, 4 children: Tracy Hester, Latricia Holt, William Hester Jr. (Bill) and Keith Hester (Anita). Her Husband William Hester Sr. and eldest son Cedric Davis Sr. preceded her in death; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral Service will be on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 11:00am at St. James Missionary Baptist Church , 1524 W 35th Street, Riviera Beach, FL 33404. Under the Direction of Shuler's Memorial Chapel, Riviera Beach, Florida
Graveside Service will be on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 11:00am, at The New Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 9225 SW 27th Avenue, Ocala, FL 34476. Under the direction of Summers Funeral Home, Inc. 2238 NW 10th Street. Ocala, FL. 34475
