William Courtney Obituary

"PLEASE AT THE REQUEST OF THE FAMILY, SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE PRACTICED AND WEARING A MASK IS MANDATORY"

On October 13, 1986, William Trent (fondly known as Trent to close family and friends) began his earthly mission in a lineage that embraced Christianity and the unity of family. As a young boy, Trent’s life began in a home that nurtured and fostered Christianity and academia.

Trent completed his secondary education in the Alachua County Public School System. He was a strong student that said there wasn’t a test he couldn’t pass, and with determination graduated high school earlier than his cohorts.

Trent then made two major commitments immediately following high school.

He enrolled and continued his higher learning at Job Corps., received a certification and then enlisted in the US Army. His 18th birthday was spent in basic training.

Returning home from the military Trent used his Plastering Certification obtained at Job Corp. to work in the Construction field and gain even more experience. Trent was both gifted and creative in both his professional and personal life and was extremely talented with his hands. From growing up working in the produce industry to plastering walls during Construction projects to working in landscaping to cattle ranching to demonstrating his superior artistic talents in art and original tattoos, Trent was known for producing great work. He demonstrated skills beyond his years and had a knack for teaching and training others on how to do countless things that came naturally to him.

Trent was a diehard Kobe Bryant and LA Lakers fan. He was an avid gamer and a true FSU Seminole Fan. He loved life and being around friends having a good time really brought him pleasure.

On October 1, 2021, God found it pleasurable to grant Trent access to eternal rest and peace. Though our hearts hurt, we celebrate his transition, for we know “to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.”

Trent’s love will continue to live on in the memories of his children and countless others who cherished him dearly.

William Trent was preceded in death by his proud father Fabian McFatten and two grandmothers who loved him as much as life itself, Mother Julia McKnight and Altamese Grant.

His love and life will forever be remembered and cherished in the lives of his daughter, Yatacia Courtney and son William Courtney Jr. aka Scooter of Gainesville, Florida; mother Julia Courtney-Rolle (Roy) of Gainesville, Florida; three sisters, Kaysie Nichols of Ocala, Florida; Fabian McFatten of Ocala, Florida and Fayonda McFatten of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Roy Rolle IV and Russell Rolle of Gainesville Florida; grandmother, Elder W. Ruth Crowell -Courtney of Miami, Florida; Roosevelt Nichols lovingly known as “Pops” of Ocala, Florida; his godmothers Angela Kiner-Williams and Shawanda Thomas Murry, a devoted cousin/aunt Kathryn Crowell-Grate and a host of aunts and uncles, along with a slew of cousins and friends that he held dear to his heart.
