Vivian Herring Obituary

"PLEASE AT THE REQUEST OF THE FAMILY, SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE PRACTICED AND WEARING A MASK IS MANDATORY"

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.” Proverbs 31:30

Our dearly departed Vivian Deloris Herring was born to the late parents Wydrell (Buster) and Ida Mae Herring on May 22, 1949 in Silver Springs, Florida.  Vivian fondly known as “Viv” passed away peacefully after waiting for her son Vernon Jr. to arrive from Poland in the early morning hours of Thursday, September 8th, 2022.

Vivian was a dedicated Mother, Sister, Cousin, Aunt, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Friend and Woman-of-God.

Vivian was raised in Silver Springs, Florida and attended Howard High School located in Ocala, FL. After graduation, Viv relocated to New York City where she enjoyed her first career at the famous Bloomingdale’s Department Store. Vivian was later introduced by her older (late) sister, LeDonia, to her first sweetheart, (late) Vernon Pinkney, Sr. Vivian continued to reside in New York until 1972 when the couple, along with their two children, Tretus & Vernon, Jr. decided to re-locate to Savannah, GA. There the family resided until 1977.

After relocating back to her hometown of Silver Springs and Ocala, FL, Viv enjoyed her life to the fullest and was always known for a bright smile and hearty laugh. Vivian remarried in 1988 to (late) Mr. Dennis Jones who preceded her in glory seven years later.

Vivian was a regular patron of the Boys & Girls Swim Club, Ocala, GA and was known for playing her music, dancing, watching all the latest movies. It was known not to interrupt a Teddy Pendergrass or Luther Vandross song. Vivian was also absolutely passionate about her grandchildren. Vivian was always focused on the needs of her family and friends and had a heart for each and every one of them. A day would not go by without her talking about those she loved both near and far. You could always count on a birthday and holiday card showing up in the mail to bless your heart (and pockets) as she was able.

Viv was a member of the Mount Caanan Missionary Church, Ocala, Fl and enjoyed fellowshipping albeit in-person or at home.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband's Vernon Pinkney Sr. and Denis Jones. Vivian was also proceeded by her siblings: Ulysses Herring, LeDonia Shelton, David Herring, Clarence Herring, Bernard Herring, Janice Herring, Rodney Herring, Wilhemenia Rhem.

Vivian’s loving memory will be forever cherished by her two loving and devoted children; Tretus Laverne Becks (Perry), Augusta, Georgia, Vernon Pinkney Jr. (Diedre) of Jacksonville, Florida, her grandchildren: Brittany Pinkney, Si’Leshia Green, Ashley Cogburn, Tori Becks, Cori Pinkney, Alexis Becks, Vernon (Tre) Pinkney III, Alahni Becks, Joshua Pinkney, Rachael Smith, Kayla Pinkney, Nyah & Naomi Becks and Carmi Smith, Solomon Pinkney and a host of Great-grandchildren.

Vivian is also survived by her two brothers James Herring (Vanessa) of Ocala and Willie (Joe) Herring (Omega) of Gainesville, Florida.

Vivian will also leave behind her most affectionate extended family of nieces, nephews & cousins, friends and loved ones.
