Vernon Lorenzo Simmons, Jr.

Vernon Lorenzo Simmons, Jr was born on March 28, 1950, to the union of Vernon Lorenzo Simmons, Sr. and Castella in Sparr, Florida.

Vernon received his formal education in the Marion County School System attending Fessenden High School in Ocala.

Vernon accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Mt. Tabor African Methodist Episcopal Church in Ocala.

Vernon was united in holy matrimony with Claire Rolle on October 18, 2018, in Ocala. 

Vernon was employed by Ag Source as a Heavy Equipment Operator. In his leisure he enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.

On Sunday, December 25, 2022, Vernon went home to be with the Father. He was preceded in death by his father Vernon L. Simmons, Sr.; mother, Castella; a brother Willie Simmons and his sister, Carolyn Jacobs.

Vernon is survived by his wife Claire Simmons; a son, Vernon Simmons, III, (Lina); three daughters, Sabrina Dean (James), Saprina Pollock (Austin) and Veronica Bailey (Nick); 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Stevenson (Pamela), Robert Simmons and Johnny Drayton; best friend, “Red Cat”; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. 

Public Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023, at 4:00 until 6:00PM at Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th Street, Ocala, Fl 34475.

Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Willow Plant Missionary Baptist Church, 1830 NE 175th Street, Citra, Florida, 32113
