Verna Charles Wheeler

Verna Rae Charles Wheeler (Pookie) was born in Ocala FL on February 20, 1965, to the late Joe Charles Jr. and Claudette Jones Charles. Her early childhood years were spent in Ocala

with family and friends, later on moving to Belleview FL. Verna graduated from Vanguard High School with the Class of 1983.

Her employment before she became disabled included jobs at Closet Maid, Krystals and in childcare. Verna loved the Lord, and was often encouraging others with praises of how good God is and uplifting words. She enjoyed praising the Lord in song anywhere but especially during her time at New Life Worship Center, where she fellowshipped with most of her siblings. Her personal relationship with Christ prepared her well for a life of love and service to others. She was passionate about her family and her faith.

On April 2, 2022, Verna Rae returned from whence she descended. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Jay Charles.

Loving memories will be Cherished Forever by her son, Bernard Wheeler Jr., granddaughters, Ameliah and Avayah, devoted siblings Sheila Poole Diaz (Carlos), Yama Stevenson,

Slyvester Stevenson, and Marvin Charles (Tonya). Aunts, Zelda Jones Greene, Jupiter, FL; Gwendolyn Cooper, Helen Elaine White, Atlanta, Ga; uncles: Sgt. Major Benjamin R. Jones

Edward) Ariel; and nephews Emanuel aka HeMan (wife-Jamaica) of Citra, Jauan (Jalisa), Romel, Tyrone aka Bubb, Mariel, Marviyon, Greg aka Jitty (Jasmine), Gyron, Jayden , and

Simere; and a host of loving great nieces, great nephews, cousins and her lifelong friends including Eddie Clarence (Sasha’s dad), Ms. Ilene, Ms. Dot, and Ms. Cilely Mae.

Public Visitation will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 1:00 until 6:00PM at Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th Street, Ocala, FL 34475.

Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Verna Charles Wheeler will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 2:00PM at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 718 NW 7th St, Ocala, Fl 34475.
