Shirley Lynn (Oats) Hamilton

I’m free from the pain and the sorrow,

I'm free from the darkness and the night.

 I'm free to walk in the light of His love,

I'm free to dance in the presence of God.

Shirley Lynn Oats Hamilton was born on June 26, 1961, to Sonny Boy Oats, Sr. and Willie Mae Cleveland-Oats in Ocala, Florida.  She was born into the Christian faith. She attended the public schools of Marion County, Florida, graduating from Forest High School.

 Shirley Lynn Oats was joined in holy matrimony to the late      Avedon C. Hamilton, Sr.

She was a gentle soul with a loving heart. She had a green thumb and could make anything grow. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved Karate movies especially those with “Bruce Lee”. When her health failed, she still enjoyed spending time with her grand and great grandchildren. She loved talking and dancing.

Shirley transitioned from labor into eternal rest on Thursday, May 8, 2025. May she rest in eternal peace, and may her memories be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sonny Boy and Willie Mae Oats, Sr.; her siblings, Vernitta Oats, Brenda McNair, Wesly Simmons, Letroy Hardly, Willie Maple, Orvella Oats, Sandra Oats and Terry Thomas.

The sorrow of the faithful Is not that of permanent loss, but the tender sense of sadness. That comes in saying good-bye for now, to someone we love. May today's sorrow give way to the peace and Comfort of God's love.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Shantay Oats Ward of Wilmington, NC, Keyuner Oats-Lowe (Bryon)of Ocala, Tigter Hamilton of Ocala; her sons, Prince Alim Muhammad of Ocala, Nathaniel Hamilton (Nataleigh) of Gainesville, Avedon Hamilton, Jr of Ocala, Joseph Peterson of Gainesville; bonus son, Anthrone Oats, Sr. of Ocala; her sisters, Novella Oats, Jennifer Oats and Sandra Kidd; her brothers, Fred Lee Oats, Sonny Boy Oats, Jr., Author Lissimore, Jr., Sonny Boy Oats, III, Earl Jackson, Joseph Thomas, Sr., and  Jimmy Jones; A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Public Viewing will be on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 1:00pm to 6:00pm at Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th St, Ocala, Fl 34475.

Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Shirley Hamilton will be on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 11:00am at, Immerse Church of Ocala, 5105 North US Hwy 441, Ocala, FL 34475.
