Roy Bostick Obituary

Roy Bostick was born on August 11, 1953, to the parents of Fred Bostick Sr. and Elizabeth Lewis Bostick.

Roy was Educated in the Marion County School System and attended Santa Fe Community College.

Roy became a Christian at an early age.  He was an active and devoted member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he served as President of the male choir, was a faithful member of The Brotherhood, and worked in the culinary department.

Roy had a very deep love for his family.  He enjoyed traveling and being around his children, grandchildren and great grands. Roy was a person with a big kind heart.

On March 1, 2023 Roy answered the call of his Heavenly Father, while surrounded by his family.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his father Fred Bostick Sr, mother Elizabeth Lewis Bostick, six siblings: Leon and Alfred Bostick, Horace Vereen Jr., Dora Mae Wallace, Daisy Lee, Fred Bostick, Jr, and grandson D'Andra Flythe.

In his passing, he leaves footsteps in the sand that will be remembered by his surviving family: three daughters: Andrea Bostick of Ocala, FL, LaTroy Brown (Ernie) of Richmond Hill, GA, Lynnsey Hudson (Sidney) of Orlando, FL; one step daughter: Cher-re Berryan of Ocala, FL.; two sons- Somboyta (Keon) Washington of Tampa, FL, Jovan Bostick (Chandra) of Ocala, FL; one step son: Richard Berryan of Ocala, FL.; six sisters: Vera Mae Roberts of Ocala, FL, Frances Curry (Ron) of Tampa, FL, Rev. Darion Tyler (Henry) of Ocala, FL, Vanessye “K” Woods of Ocala, FL, Betty Nelson of Sandersville, GA, Sallie Slykes of Belleview, FL; 21 grandchildren, 11 great grands, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, sorrowing friends and his forever love and friend Irish Linzy.

Because of Roy’s deep love for his family, as his health began to fail, several family members stepped up to assist Roy throughout his illness and until the end. Roy was so very grateful for his devoted niece, Serita Vereen, devoted nephew Horace Vereen III, his loving son and daughter-in-law, Jovan and Chandra Bostick and his devoted sister, Vanessye “K” Woods. Love endures all, and these loving and devoted relatives were the light at the end of the tunnel for Roy.
