Rosetta Smith-Lowery Obituary

I’ve moved from my old house to my brand-new home.

I’m no longer worried about  the cracks and leaks.

In that old house—my health was fading there.

But then Jesus came and laid His healing hands on me

and touched my soul until it was made whole.

That’s why I stepped out of the old… and into the new.

Rosetta L. Smith Lowery was born on March 7, 1936, to Jimmy Harris and Ollie Dawson in Orange Lake, Florida.

Rosetta was educated in the public schools of Marion County, Florida. She accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and was a member of Deliverance Gospel Temple where she served as the mother of the church.

She was united in holy matrimony with Willie Lowery and their union was blessed with 7 children.

Mother Lowery peacefully rested on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in a still small voice she uttered, “I am tired, and I am ready to go Home” and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ honored her request as a Faithful Servant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lowery Sr.; father, Jimmy Harris; mother, Ollie J. Dawson; two daughters, Ruby Rowe and Linda Jamerson; sisters, Mary Clark, Emma Smith and Carolyn Jamerson.

A life well-lived, a legacy so grand, 89 years of love, laughter, and guiding hand. Through joy and tears, through trials and strife, she walked with faith and lived a full life. Her sun may set, but memories remain, of a woman whose heart was filled with love and pain. Though her journey's end, her legacy stays in the hearts of those that loved her. Rest now, in eternal peace, your life's work done, your memory will never cease.

She is survived by seven daughters, Betty Latimer of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Brenda Jones (Allen) of Alachua, FL, Rosa McDavid (Ronald Sr.) and Doris Lowery of Orange Lake, FL, Bernadine Lowery, Debra Brown and Sabrina Barber (Jarvis) of Ocala, FL; one son, Gary Lowery of Orlando FL; special granddaughter, Lawanda Wiggins (Patrick) of Ocala FL; special grandson, Norman Brown (Ava) of Ocala FL; one sister, Evelyn Clay of Ft. Lauderdale FL; sister-in-law, Louise Scott of Orange Lake, FL; thirty-three grands; a host of great-grands; goddaughter, Katina Blunt of Ocala, FL; two-god sisters, Florrie Stubbins and Juanita Haskins of Orange Lake, FL; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
