Retha B. Holmes-Colquitt, passed on Monday, February 15, 2021.
Retha was born February 8, 1948 in Ocala, FL to the late Albert and Janie Bell Holmes. The youngest of the four children, Lillian Deason (sis.), Vera Bell (sis.) and Luella White (preceded in death).
Retha accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Leesburg, FL. She was educated in the Leesburg School system. Upon leaving Leesburg she fell in love with Greater Hopewell Baptist Church in Ocala and never left. She loved working and spent over 28 years at Lockheed Martin before retiring.
Retha was a proud member of Elizabeth Chapter #11 Order of the Eastern Star, the Past Grand Most Ancient Matron in Meridian Grand Court Heroines of Jericho, a member of Saint Helena Council of Crusaders #1, Evergreen Court #1 Amaranth, Omega Court #1Daughter of Isis; She had a passion for planting flowers and gardening. She had a God given talent for singing and her voice was well known throughout the community.
Retha loved all her family and friends and leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Eric Tarver, Jason Sims (Jeanira), Nakeyma Colquitt and Emma Sims, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Public viewing on Friday February 26, 2021 from 1:00pm until 6:00pm at Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th St, Ocala, Fl. 34475
Celebration of Life for Sister Retha B. Colquitt will be at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 726 NW 6th Avenue, Ocala, FL 34475 on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
