Melissa Lampkins

Melissa Lampkins was born on August 29, 1983 to Gaynelle Chandler and the late Pathos Lampkins Jr. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and attended Soul Harvest Worship and Praise. She attended North Marion High School and South Fork High School. She graduated from the Martin County Public School system Class of 2001. She then furthered her education at CTAE and College of Central Florida. She was employed in Tallassee, FL as a Medical Professional.

Melissa was a Christian and lived her life as a beautiful, sweet and loving person to all that knew her. Melissa would always go above and beyond for anyone especially her son Darione. She was an amazing mother and devoted her life to raising her son. She made sure he had a stress free life full of love. She kept him in church and instilled in him the significance of an education. She always displayed a beautiful smile that would brighten up the darkest of room and possessed a genuine heart of pure gold. When times were rough she always kept faith in the Lord. When family and friends would confide in her about their grief she would listen and remind them to keep God first and pray about it. She was definitely a loving mother, devoted daughter, amazing sister, best auntie “TeeTee”, and a true friend.

Melissa had many great accomplishments and a prosperous life. She was born in Stuart, Fl. As an adolescent she was grew up in Indiantown, Fl. From teenager into adulthood she resided in Ocala, FL. Later in life she relocated to Georgia until she decided to nest in Tallahassee, Fl. Where she was employed as a Medical Professional doing what she loved, caring for people. However, she was notoriously known as Authoress Melissa Monae!! She has written many novels that have been ranked as number 1. Knowing that she executed one of her top3 goals, were one of the most rewarding experiences Melissa achieved. Writing was a passion that she derived from her late maternal grandmother Ruth Vaughn. She also enjoyed reading, fishing, and playing bingo with her mother and best friend Gaynelle.

No words can describe how thankful we are to have known the, dear, sweet Melissa “Wanky” Lampkins.

Melissa leaves behind many to cherish her loving memories: Her son Oskey “Darione” Smith of Tallahassee. Her mother Gaynelle Chandler of Tallahassee FL, siblings near and far Pate Lampkins of Tallahassee Fl. Alexis Lampkins , Cassius Lampkins and Atlas Lampkins of Ocala, Fl. Wanda Smith of Atlanta Ga. John Lampkins, Pamela Lampkins-Haywood and Pathos Lampkins Jr of North Carolina. Nicole Lampkins of Sarasota Fl. Beloved nieces and nephews, Jaila, Jamal, Mariah and Roemal “Mello” of Sarasota, FL. Cherished friend Karon Johnson. Dear Aunts, Jessie Mae Johnson and Verna-Dean Shanks of Indiantown Fl. and Odessa Brockington of West Palm Beach, Fl. Many more nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

Public viewing for Mrs. Melissa Lampkins will be Friday, September 3, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th Street. Ocala, FL. 34475.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 5000 SW College Road Ocala, FL 34474..

Interment will follow in Montauge Cemetery .
