After college returning to New York, she started her teaching career in Brooklyn, NY Middle School System for approx. five years. Mary then moved to Ohio where she meet and married David Mills who preceded her in death.
While living on Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary and Dave ran a small catering business, also employed at Internal Revenue Service for seven years. Mary then began teaching at Crest Hill Junior High School for fifteen years before returning to Ocala, Florida.

While helping some of her families sometimes even using her own finances. Pursing her love for teaching she then retired from Marion County School District as a Special Education Teacher at Dunnellon Middle School for nine years. Once she retired, she started Nana’s cab service where she would faithfully get her grand children to and from different activities and school. During her breaks she loved her shopping outings with her co-pilot Wilhelmina. Almost daily during the week while she was on break from Nan’s Cab; her and Wilhelmina would go shopping. It could have been a yard sale or shoe store or the grocery store, picking up items from Market Place or Walmart they were out and about. Mary enjoyed old school music and could name that tune in seconds. She was a strong role model for her family and friends. She was always there and willing to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Davis Mills and eldest son Morani Felder.
She leaves to cherish he memories two loving and devoted children Malaika and Marques Mills both of Ocala Florida.
