Marguerite Shelton Vickers

Born: Marguerite Lenora Shelton, in Ocala, Florida
Parents: Abraham W. Shelton, Jr. and the late Dorothy Pittman Shelton
Education: Public Schools of Marion County, graduation from Forest High School, class of 1977. Higher Education: Central Florida Community College and Florida State University.
Marguerite accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Greater Hopewell in 1976 where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Directress, President of Mass Choir and as President if Intermediate Women’s Ministry.
Marguerite was married for thirty plus years to the late Norman Earl Vickers, Jr. and was blessed with two children, Jeremy and Joya.
Employment: Hawthorne Village as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant for 31 years. She loved to traveling and being with her grandkids and shopping.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Shelton.
Marguerite is survived by children, Jeremy Vickers and Joya Washington (Darvell) both of Ocala; her father, Abraham W. Shelton, Jr of Ocala; her sisters, Joyce Sanders (Bronson) and Wanda Shelton Coplin (Terry) all of Ocala. Five grandchildren, Kamaria, Darvell Jr. and Dorian Washington, Zylin and Jayden Vickers; one uncle, Charles Shelton (Jackie); one aunt, Frances Shelton; a special niece RaKecia McCoy, best friend Sharon Goodman; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.

Wake service will be Friday, February 28, 2020 from 6:00pm til 8:00pm at Greater Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 515 NW 6th Terr., Ocala, FL. 34475
