A time to be born:
Luvenia Monts Rhodes, was born on April 23, 1944, in Summerfield, Florida to the late Tom Monts, Sr. and Christina Richards and was raised by her stepfather the late Willie Pierson, Sr.
A time to learn:
Educated in the Public Schools of Marion County, Florida. Graduating from Belleview High School.
A time to love:
On March 4, 1961, Luvenia Monts was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Charles Rhodes. This union was blessed with two children: Tony L. Rhodes and Teresa L. Rhodes. Luvenia and Charles were united in love for 63 years when the Lord called him home on September 17, 2024.
A Time of Christian experience:
Luvenia accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was united with Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess and Mother of the Church.
A Time to work:
Employed for 30 years with the Marion County School Board. Retired in 2002 after 30 years of dedicated service. A precious gem, so rare, so true, a light that shined in all she knew. With gentle hands and loving grace, she enjoyed cooking, shopping and spending time with family and friends. A heart of gold, a soul set free, now resting for eternity. Her spirit lives; forever cherished, forever bright, forever shining in Heaven’s light. Luvenia Monts Rhodes entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. She walked softly, her words were few, but her wisdom was vast. She loved deeply, served faithfully, and now rests peacefully. She was preceded in death by her father, Tom Monts; her mother, Christina Richards; stepfather, Willie Pierson, Sr.; her brother, Willie Pierson, Jr.; she is now reunited with the love of her life Deacon Charles R. Rhodes.
A Time of mourn:
Those left to cherish her memory and carry on the legacy, her son, Tony Lamarr Rhodes; daughter, Teresa L. Rhodes-Davis; granddaughter, Kelsey S. Johnson; grandson, Casey Allen; 5 godsons; 3 devoted cousins, Annie Pearl Miller, Alphonso Richards and Lucius Berry; 3 devoted friends, Julia Hamilton, Ruby Hughes and Pastor Peggy Tuggerson; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Public Visitation will be held on Friday August 1, 2025, at 12:00pm until 6:00pm at Summers Funeral Home 2238 NW 10th Street, Ocala 34475.
Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 2:00pm at Second Bethlehem Baptist Theological Seminary, 1105 NW 4th Street, Ocala, FL 34475.
