Mr. Lewis Dickerson Sr. was born on August 14,1937 to John Dickerson and Fannie Ratliff Dickerson in Anthony Florida. He was educated in the public schools of Marion County at Howard High School. Where he played football as one of the original Wild Bulls. Lewis dedicated his life to his family and his community. He was an ambitious entrepreneur that gave his time and what he had to help those who needed a helping hand in the Hartford, CT and Ocala, FL communities He was a man that enjoyed people and brought laughter to those around him. He was an honest and loyal friend that enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and trash talk. He was the best man we knew, and we will miss him deeply.
Lewis Dickerson, Sr. fought a great fight in his battle with cancer but the creator required his presence in his heavenly kingdom on July 9th, 2021. He was preceded in death by
his Mother: Fannie Ratliff Dickerson, Father: John Dickerson, Brothers: Eddie Dickerson and Joe Dickerson; sister: Ann Johnson, nephew: Joe Dickerson Jr. “Manson”, daughter: Sheila Dickerson, son: Lewis Dickerson Jr. “June”, and grandson: Lewis Dickerson III “Shank”.
Lewis leaves to cherish his precious memories: His loving and devoted wife of 42 years Peggie Dickerson; two daughters: Patricia Armour and Myna Walton; two sons: John Dickerson and Joe Walton; eight grandchildren: Gary Armour, Shareen Dickerson, Lashonda Dickerson, Lakisha Dickerson, Latoya Dickerson, Danny Dickerson, Nyshawn Walton, and Ramell Walton; 25 Great Grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Public viewing for Mr. Lewis Dickerson will be Friday, July 16, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th St, Ocala, FL 34475.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., Mt. Olive AME Church Cemetery, 7941 NE 41st Court, Anthony FL 32617.
