Lawrence Shelton, Sr. was born to the late Abraham and Nora Shelton in Ocala, FL.

He was educated at Howard Academy, Ocala, FL. He furthered his education at Bethune-Cookman College and also served in the United States Army.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted children, daughter: Sharon  (Dave) Ponder and son: Lawrence Shelton, Jr.; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three siblings: Abraham Shelton, Jr., Charles Shelton, Sr. and Mary Frances Mathis; two sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be Friday, June 23, 2017 at Summers Funeral Home, 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Celebration service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Greater Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Edward Bland.
