LaVerne M Terry

LaVerne M. Terry was born on March 9, 1942, being the only child to Bennie Mullins and Minnie Shaw in Wildwood, Florida. Where she began a life defined by love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Laverne devoted 37 years of her life to the Marion County School Board, serving as a cafeteria worker. She took great pride in her work, nourishing generations of children with not only meals but also warmth and kindness.

Laverne found joy in the simple pleasures of life—thrifting for hidden treasures, playing bingo, sewing beautiful pieces, and expressing her creativity through interior design. Her eye for detail and her unique style left a touch of beauty everywhere she went.

Laverne M. Terry, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, in Belleview, Florida, at the age of 83.

Known for her strength, her laughter, and her deep love for her family, Laverne will be remembered as a woman who gave selflessly, loved deeply, and lived fully. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will forever be cherished.

She was the cherished mother of Sheila Tarver, Veronica Aldridge (Curtis), and Lawanna Lockett (Anthony). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Brandon Sams Sr., Tamikia Bishop, Teshara Lockett, Jireh Everett, and Malik Hopkins; her great-grandchildren: Jy’Asia Sams, Brandon Sams Jr., Javari Sams, Shylah Bishop, Jashawn Whitehead, Josiah Whitehead, and Naziyah Lockett; and her great-great-grandchild, Messiah Sams.
