James Bellamy Obituary

"THE REQUEST OF THE FAMILY SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE PRACTICED"

Legacy of Deacon James “JB” Bellamy

Sunrise began for Deacon James Burden Bellamy, affectionaly known as “J.B.” on April 26, 1949 in Orlando, Florida to Burden Bellamy and Inez Vereen Bellamy. He was the first born of two children. His early childhood of fun and laughter began in Miami, FL. He attended Phyllis Wheatlyn Elementary School where he spent his early schooling years and completed his education at Hungerford High School in Eatonville, Florida.

James was baptized in the Christian faith at the age of thirteen at Open Door M.B. Church of Eatonville, FL under the leadership of the late Reverend B.T. Williams. He served as an active member of the youth choir and usher board. In 2007 he became a member of Greater New Bethal M.B. Church in Flemington, Florida under the leadership of Reverend Michael Mayweather. March 10, 2019, James was ordained Deacon of the church where he served faithfully until his call home to glory.

James worked as a short order cook (Italian style) for many years and traveled the world as a truck driver. For 20 years, James worked for Cottman Transmission in Casselberry, FL as a mechanic. In his later years he became an entrepreneur; owner of “All About Landscaping” and “Green Man”. He enjoyed gardening and raising fresh vegetables’ like collards and mustard greens, watermelons, okra and peas…. It was nothing to come home and find a fresh bunch or greens or a watermelon on your porch. You knew “J.B.” came by and left them, no question.

On July 25, 2020, God quietly called James home. The family rests upon the scripture, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”

James is preceded in death by his mother Inez Bellamy Ginyard and Father, Burden Bellamy. He leaves to cherish in memory his wife of 17 years, Jeanette Gordon Bellamy of Orange Lake, FL. His three sons Cornelius James Bellamy (Sateria); Antonio Bellamy, and Daryl White of Orlando, FL. His three daughters Jameca Bellamy (Winter Spring, FL); Tonya Lane (Eatonville, FL) and Santonya Jackson (Springfield, Mass); One stepson Maurice White (Orlando, FL); three step daughters, Latrenda Edwards (Ocala, FL); Shavonne Edwards (Perry, GA) and LaShaurne Houseal (Maitland, FL). He leaves 25 lovely grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He leaves a devoted sister Deborah Bellamy Stafford, three foster sisters Linda Woods and Barbara Jackson of Springfield, Massachusetts; and Marilyn English of Stone Mountain, GA; one uncle Alonza Bellamy (Shelia) of Philadelphia; 4 aunts, Lavern B. Williams (Maitland, FL), Joesphine B. Beacham (Florida), Irene B. Edwards (Orlando, FL), and Romel A.
