Ida Delores Lewis Taylor was born on June 3, 1957, to the late James Lewis Sr. and Bessie Mae Mitchell Lewis, of Anthony, Florida.
Ida received her formal education in the Marion County School System in Citra, Florida, graduating from North Marion High School class of 1975. She furthered her education at Marion Technical Institute in Ocala, Florida.
Ida accepted Christ as Savior at an early age and was united with Anthony Church of God in Christ and later changing the name to Zion Hill Church of God in Christ. She served as president on the Hospitality Board until her passing.
Ida was united in marriage to Kenneth Taylor 1978 - 1989. From their union one daughter was born Mariva Taylor.
She worked at the United States Postal Service for about three years as a mail carrier. She later returned to Lockheed Martin working as a Senior Assembler and retiring after 38 years in June 29th, 2023.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends, especially the grands and great-grands. She was a member of the Summer Glenn Softball team where she enjoyed meeting different people every week during her games. She never met a stranger because she was always talking and laughing with everyone.
Ida departed this life on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Though she has departed from this earthly realm, her legacy lives on in the stories we tell, the love we share, and the strength we carry forward in her name. She was preceded in death by both parents James and Bessie Lewis Sr.; one daughter: Marvia Taylor Brown; one sister: Ethel Miller-Engram; three brothers-in-law: George Swinton, Leroy Engram, and Clarence Smith; several aunts and uncles.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories two daughters: Cassandra Lewis Posey (Gary), Eugina Lewis; one son: Dominick Jamsion; six grandchildren: Terrance Lewis Sr, Ebony Buckhanon, Kaliyah Cook, Tracey Smith, Abrianna “Bri” Lewis, Jordan Rother, Aaniyah Jamison, Anadia Jamison, Anina Jamison, Shantavia Brintley; four great grandchildren: Terrance “TJ” Lewis Jr., Tyrin Wheeler, Trace Lewis, and Taylor Lewis; eight siblings: Dorothy Smith, James Lewis Jr., Priscilla Swinton, Lorenzo Lewis Sr. (Annette), Candace Lewis, Ruben Lewis Sr., Eugene Lewis Sr. (Melanie), Ray Charles Lewis and Melissa Cooper; one goddaughter: Donora Sims; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Public Viewing will be on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 1:00pm to 6:00pm at Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th St, Ocala, Fl 34475.
Celebration of Life Service for Ida Taylor will be on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00am at, Immerse Church of Ocala, 5105 North US Hwy 441, Ocala, FL 34475.
