Horace Campbell III was born to the late Horace Campbell Sr. and Louise Grant Campbell in Archer, Florida March 15,1940.
He attended school in Alachua County school system. Horace enlisted in the United States Army June of 1957 and served until April of 1965. Horace gained a trade while serving and was well known as the carpet man. He served the community for over 50 years until his retirement.
In 1967, Horace married Bennie Patterson, and their union was blessed with eight children, 21 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Horace Campbell IV; grandchildren Chaquetta Butler and Desmond Crawford; sisters Gussie Allen, Versa Cola Rhim, and Nancy Campbell; and brothers John Campbell and Ulysses Campbell.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 58 years, Bennie Campbell; daughters Youlonda (Bernard) Smith of Ocala, Wanda (Robert) Howard of Raleigh, NC, Carla (Isaiah) Campbell of Ocala, Tanisha (Joseph) Gulledge of Rex, GA, Lametris (Trina) Campbell-Spencer of Cibolo, TX, and Tremaine James of Spotsylvania, VA; and three sons, John Campbell of Ocala, FL, Steven Carnegie of Douglasville, GA and Michael Jacobs of Alachua; his beloved fur pet Chihuahua, Pinkie.
He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Robert, Whitney, Viola, Horace V, Tatiana, TroVorace, Jarvis, Deoshana, Jeremy, Juwan, Destiny, Jermaine, Antonia, Kindred, D’Angelo, Deja, Ja’Leah, Deyonn, and Meeko; and his great-grandchildren: DeMarcus, Zy’niah, Barrington, Naomi, TroVonnie, Dereon, Mya, Amir, Zayven, TroVorace Jr., Kyndall, Christian, Shawne Jr., Zaria, Amya, Kyrie, Tiana, Aaliyah, and Kaelynn.
He is also survived by his father-in-law, Sup. L.B. Nelson; sisters-in-law Arthur Mae Campbell, Althea Pontoon, and Helen (Mickey) Person; and his cherished bonus sister, Joyce Pullings-Williams. He held a special bond with his beloved niece, Freddie Mae Allen.
Horace is also remembered by his aunts: Mary Lewis, Francis Nelson, Maebell (Sylvester) Smith, and Florance Brown. He was a beloved godfather to Janice McKay, Sherite Thomas, Rev. James Pullings, Bishop Freddie Oats, April Wiggins, Tracey Parker, Miriam Nichols, Michael & Lisa Coy.
Public Visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 1:00 until 6:00PM at Summers Funeral Home 2238 NW 10th Street, Ocala, Fl 34475.
Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00AM at Unity Temple International Fellowship, 2351 NE 200th Ave, Williston, FL 32696.
