Grady Brown Obituary

There is a flower that is missing from the earthly garden

that has been moved to the eternal garden.

That flower is Grady Francis Brown

A Time to Be Born:

Grady Brown was born in Oxford, New York to the late Mr. Grady Brown “Buddy”  and Mrs. Fhelt Brown “Sister”, on September 9,1948.

A Time to Learn:

Grady attended Everglades Vocational School in Okeechobee project and then later Lake Shore Jr./Sr. high School in Belle Glade, Florida and graduated in the class of 1969. He joined Mt. Zion AME Church, Belle Glade at an early age and after moving to Ocala, moved his membership to Saint Paul AME Church on Tucker Hill.

A  Time to Work:

During his high school years, Grady worked at Winn Dixie in Belle Glade, he joined the United States Army June 1969. His active service was for a year and a half and upon and upon discharge, Grady completed his military career with the Florida National Guard. Grady was considered a “Jack of all trades” because he had so much experience and worked many companies and businesses to include Ray Roth Farms, Coca Cola Bottling (Belle Glade), Sears, Circuit City, Master Halco (Fort Lauderdale) and Wiley Sanders (Troy, Alabama). While serving in the National Guard, Grady made use of his Veteran’s preference and was employed with the United States Postal Service where he retired.

Because Grady was an industrious fellow, he even owned two businesses. S&B Hardware and Variety. While being a “worker bee”, Grady stayed connected with his military family and was a member of VFW Post 8195 in Hollywood, Florida and the American Legion Post 209, Dania, Florida.

A Time to Love

Grady married the love of his life, Carolyn Williams, on January 11, 1974, and for 51 years, they were devoted to each other. He was also passionate about his daughter, granddaughter, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He truly loved helping others and his military family.

A Time to mourn:

Grady was preceded in death by both of his parents, Grady and Fhelt Brown; his son,   Isaiah I. Brown; his sisters, Ola Belle Brown, Curtis Gwen Brown Liscombe and  Hester Brown Roberts and his brothers, Rollie “Raliegh” Brown, Willie A. Brown and Larry J. Brown.
