Ella Mae Follins-Clark went home to be with the Lord on July 29, 2018 in Rochester, NY.
Ella was born on September 3, 1928 in Bronson, FL, the daughter of the late James Wesley and Nellie Mae Follins. She attended the Public School of Levy County, Florida.
The eldest of her siblings, she remained at home as care giver to her younger siblings as her parents worked. Ella made a good home for her parents, organized and running efficiently. Firm in her speech Ella treated her siblings as her own scolding them when appropriate and was often portrayed as “a mean person”, but over all Ella was a loving person and a wonderful cook as most remember her collard greens and corn bread. She loved fishing, traveling and crocheting and made beautiful afghans which she often gave away to family and friends.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nellie Follins, two sisters, Theola Follins and Ruth Follins-Linton; one brother, Curley Follins and a grand daughter, Sabrina Vernon.
After moving to Rochester, Ella joined the Francis White, Chapter # 327 Order of Eastern Star, A Lady Noble and became a member of Tristone Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Curtis Lee Vernon of Orlando; one sister, Essie Follins Wright; two brothers, Raymond Wesley (Tina) Follins and Robert Morris (Marilyn) Follins, all of Ocala; two grand children, Loren Vernon and Marcelle Vernon; five nieces, Wanda Follins, Brenda Graham, Pamela Shelton, Vanessa Follins-Williams and Cheryl McKeever; eight nephews, Raymond Follins, Jr., Robert Follins, Jr., Michael Keith Follins, Julius Linton, Dennis Linton, Daryl Linton, Ronald Linton and Donald Linton, her best friend, Evelyn McGauley of Valdosta, GA; a host of other relatives and friends.
