Earlene Nichols Woods was born on June 11, 1930, to the union of Charles James Nichols and Willie Bell McCray Nichols in Jamestown, Florida.
Earlene Nichols Woods received her formal education in Public School System of Marion County Fessenden Academy School in Martin, Florida.
Earlene Woods accepted Christ as her Savior at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and was united with New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Trustee, Deaconess, Mother of the Church, Praise leader, culinary leader.
Earlene Nichols was united in holy matrimony with Lewis Philip Woods, Sr. on March 16, 1947 in Martin, Florida.
Their union was blessed with five children.
She was employed by Marion County School System at Forest High School, Ocala, Florida as a Lead Cook in cafeteria at Forest High School for 33 years of service and been retired 28 years.
In her leisure, she enjoyed farming, gardening, cooking, canning. painting, reading, great sense of humor and writing.
Earlene Nichols Woods departed this life on October 15, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her: Mother and father- Charles James and Willie Bell Nichols, Spouse-Lewis Philip Woods, Sr.; Daughters: Margaret Mozella Woods Reeves, Patricia Ann Woods Dawson, Betty Lou Woods; Son: Eugene Woods; Brothers: Bennie Poole, Thomas Nichols Sr., James Charles Nichols, Deacon Julius Nichols, and Reginald Nichols; Sister-Bonnie Nichols Wilkerson.
She was member of the Mother’s church, Praise team, Deaconess team.
She leaves to cherish her memories: son: Lewis Philip Woods, Jr. (Teresa), daughter: Brenda Lucile Woods Chisholm (Vernon) and son: Calvin Alexander Woods, Sr. (Helene); many brothers, sisters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Public Visitation will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 1:00 until 6:00PM at Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th Street, Ocala, Fl 34475.
Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 10:00am at New Hope Memorial Garden, 8900 NE 27th Terr., Anthony, FL 32617.
