Deacon Marion Lenon Obituary

A TIME TO BE BORN

Marion Francis Lenon was the sixth born child of the late Isaac Sr. and Ira Belle Lenon. He was born in Ocala, Florida on August 21, 1945.

A TIME TO LEARN

He competed school at Howard High, class of 1963.  He received his Bachelor of Art Degree at Florida A&M University.  He received his Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova University.

A TIME TO LOVE

He was united in Holy Matrimony to his college sweetheart Lizzie Mae Glenn-Lenon on March 26th, 1971.  This union yielded one son, and two daughters (Eric, Yolanda and Veronica). This Blessed Union lasted for 54 years.

A TIME TO WORSHIP AND PUBLIC SERVICE

He accepted Christ Jesus as his savior and followed him in Baptism as a member of Mt. Canaan Missionary Baptist Church.  He moved his membership to Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church after he returned to Ocala in 1972.  He was Chairman for the Deacon Ministry at Mt. Moriah for many years.  He sang in the Voice of Thunder and Higher Praise choirs.  He was a member of the Married Couple Ministry.  He was a member of Brady Owens Post 7193.  He was known for doing different signs for organizations.  His hobby was drawing and painting.  He participated in Martin Luther King and Juneteenth activities with his art work displays.  He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.  He did Art Projects and presentations with students in the community with the Fraternity.  He did Art presentations during Black History Month at local schools and churches.  He enjoyed cruising and a dire heart Rattler.  He was known to attend all the football games and classics.  He did face painting for Martin Luther King Youth Day and Vacation Bible School.  He was a life member of Florida A&M University National Alumni Association, Marion County Chapter.

A TIME TO BE EMPLOYED

He served two years in the United States Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran.  He taught school and was an Assistant Principal in Middle School for 35 years in the Marion County Public School System.

A TIME TO CHERISH PRECIOUS MEMORIES

He is preceded in death by his mother Ira Belle Lenon, father Isaac Lenon Sr., daughter Yolanda Michelle Lenon, sisters Shirley Jones, Bernice Lenon, brothers Isaac Lenon Jr., Fred Green, and uncle Melvin Isham.  He leaves to cherish his memories, his lovely and devoted wife Lizzie M.G. Lenon, son Eric L. Lenon, daughter Veronica E.L. Arnold (Adrian) and lovely and only grandson Zaki Jameer McDougal, sisters Mable Hamilton, Rev. Altheria Lenon and Mary Braddon (Alonzo Jr), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.

Public Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 12:00 until 4:00pm at Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th Street, Ocala, Fl 34475.

Wake services for Deacon Lenon will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 6:00pm until 8:00pm at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 728 NW 6th Avenue, Ocala, FL 34475.

Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at New St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 2251 NW 2nd Street, Ocala, FL 34475.
