“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
On May 3, 1983, the Lord loaned Chazmaine Alonzo Small to Charles Small, Sr. and Sandra Deloris Washington in Ocala, Florida just for a little while.
To learn the lessons taught down here he wanted him to learn. He was born into the Christian Faith accepted Christ as Savior at an early age and was united with the Church of God by Faith. Chazmaine attended Lake Weir High School in Marion County, Florida and graduated from Miami Dade School.
The Lord did not tell us how long he would stay, since all on earth return.
We were selected to give him love, educate and teach him the way.
He cautioned us not to think the labor will be in vain
Nor hate him when he calls to take him home again.
We took the risk of grief and sheltered him with tenderness. Chazmaine brought his charm which gave us joy and gladness many memories as he loved singing, dancing, drawing and reading.
He was employed by Little Ceasars Pizza as a cook.
On May 16th, 2026, the Lord called just as He said he would one day. For the happiness we’ve known… We are forever grateful for the trust and stay and all the joy he gave.
Chazmaine was preceded in death by his father, Charles Small Sr.; grandmother, Doris Roberts; uncle, Authur Wilson, and his cousin, John Germaine Christopher.
The call came much sooner than we knew and this pain of grief is hard to bear and we’re trying to understand.
Those left to cherish his memories are his 5 children: Chazmaine Small, Jr., Elyah Small, Alaya Small, Anastasia Small, Cameron Small; his mother, Sandra Washington; his siblings, Somboyta Washington, Charkeiula Small and Charles Small, Jr.; best friend, Jasmine Smith; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
