That dash represents all the time, that I spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved me, know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own, The cars ... the house ... the cash.
What matters is how we live and love And how we spend our dash.
Augusta Davis, Jr. was born on January 7, 1958, to the late Augusta, Sr. and Lillie Mae Davis in Ocala, Florida.
He attended the public schools of Marion County; graduating from Vanguard High School with the class of 1976.
He enjoyed work as a construction worker and retired from Pinder Masonry.
Augusta accepted Christ as his Lord and Saviour at an early age and was united with New St. John Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board.
He was best known for his humble attitude and his overall positive & faith-filled personality. Augusta enjoyed reading the Bible, listening to gospel music, playing basketball, and giving nicknames to all of his nieces and nephews. He treated each one of them with a uniqueness that only he could provide and was sure to encourage and give them monetary gifts as an act of love.
Augusta is survived by: his sister, Bettye Grimsley of Ocala, FL; great aunt, Christine Bagley of Sparr, FL; nieces: Terrie Davis, of Washington, D.C., Derrie “Gail” Johnson of Pensacola, FL, Nichelle Mazyck of Ocala, FL, Diane Davis of Ocala, FL, Tonya Charles of Washington, D.C., Latrina (Gregory) Grimsley of Belleview, FL, Janicka (T.J.) Hines, Retrina (Ire) Washington, Mataya (Karlos) Grimsley, Kayla (Derrick) Grimsley, all of Ocala, FL; nephews: Kenneth Grimsley of Tallahassee, FL, Cecil (Shenetia) Grimsley and Kevin (Tonya) Grimsley, all of Ocala, FL; a special cousin, Rosa Richardson of Jacksonville, FL; Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Public Visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 1:00 until 6:00PM at Summers Funeral Home 2238 NW 10th Street, Ocala 34475.
Celebration of Life for Augusta Davis, Jr. will be held on Saturday August 12, 2023, at 2:00pm at, Welcome Stranger Missionary Baptist Church, 906 NW 9th Ave, Ocala, Florida 34475.
