Reverend Leonard Scott

Reverend Leonard Scott was born on August 30, 1943 in Weirsdale, Florida to the late Lonnie Scott and Mary Pierson Scott.
 
He received his formal education in the public schools of Marion County, graduating from Belleview Santos, class of 1963.
 
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Emory Joyce Hampton for 50 years and blessed with 4 children.
 
He accepted Christ at an early age and was of the Baptist Faith. With God’s hand upon his life he felt the call of God beckoning him into the ministry. He prepared himself for ministerial studies and later received a Bachelor's Degree in theology.
 
Reverend Scott served as pastor of Clearwater Baptist church in Ocklawaha for 25 plus years. He was currently the pastor of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church of Leesburg for 5 years. And served as one of the lead singers for the Christian Travelers of Ocala for many years. He was first Vice President of Bethel Baptist Association. He enjoyed watching Florida State football games. On April 1, 2019 he was called home to be with the Lord.
 
Rev. Scott was preceded in death by both parents Lonnie and Mary Scott; one brother Vernell Scott; one sister: Helen Smith, and one grandson: Kendre Harrington.
 
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, a loving and devoted wife: Emory Joyce Scott; four children, Patrick (Cassandra) Scott of Ocala, Patricia Scott DeLeon of Belleview, Vincent Scott of Johnson and Sammy (Shyreen) Hancock of Los Angeles, CA; four sisters, Mellonese White of Johnson, Earlene Scott of Weirsdale, Ruthel Scott (Eardley) Forbes of Weirsdale and Sandra Scott (Robert) Killett of  Greensboro, NC; two brothers: Raymond (Mary) Scott of Wildwood and Samuel L. (Margie) Scott of El Paso TX; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Public viewing will be Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th St, Ocala, Florida from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.

Funeral Services for Reverend Leonard Scott  will be on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 2:00PM at Village View Community Church, 8585 SE 147th Place, Summerfield, FL 34491. 

Final Interment will follow at Weirdale Cemetery
