Mable GordonDecember 5, 1930 ~ August 28, 2017 (age 86)
Mable Smith Gordon was born to the late Leroy and Letzia Smith in Ocala, FL.
Mable received her formal education in the Marion County School System at Fessenden Academy and furthered her education at Central Florida Community College.
Mable accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and united with New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and later uniting with Progressive Union Baptist Church. Over the years she has served on several committees such as the Dining Room Committee, Church Council Committee and the Bereavement Committee. She has served on the Usher Board, the Mother’s Board, as the Church Clerk, Sunday School Teacher, Assistant Superintendent, Vacation Bible School Director, and she was active in the Second Bethlehem Baptist Association.
She was employed by the Marion County School Board as a Teacher’s Assistant and by Kmart Store as a Sales Associate later retiring.
Marble enjoyed planting her garden, cooking and serving her community.
Mable leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter: Cathy Gordon; two sons: Thomas (Sonya) Gordon and Hubert Gordon, Sr.; five grandchildren: Hubert M. Gordon, Jr., Letzie M. Williams, Tyrell M. Gordon, Lamar T. Gordon and Malcolm Alexander Gordon; two sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Maynard Gordon.
There will be a public viewing on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Summers Funeral Home - 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Celebration of Life will be held at Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church, 8792 NW 38th Avenue Road, Ocala, FL. Pastor Derrell Redding
