Kathleen M. Barnett

There comes a time in the lives of all of us when we must become detached from this physical world, regardless of age and circumstances to become attached to the Lord above and further experience the wonders of the BEYOND. Kathleen Barnett experienced this great invitation on September 3, 2018.

Born on November 26, 1909 to Robert and Repurtia Barnett, she was the third birth of the family of thirteen, and attained the age of (108) one hundred eight years and ten months exactly.

Kathleen secured her early education in Jamaica, W.I. (then an English Colony) began her teaching career at age 17 years touching the lives of children for many years, and was socially engaged and respected in the communities she served.

On securing a scholarship from The Board of Education in Jamaica, she traveled to the U. S., attended New York University where she secured a Master Degree in Education, and continued to impact the lives of children in the New York public schools, especially those in Kindergarten.

On retiring from the Board of Education in New York City she first lived in Pt. Charlotte for 9 years, then later to Ocala.

As a “Born Again” Christian, with a God enkindled thirst, Kathleen pursued ministerial studies at Meadowbrook Church Ministry School Center, and became an Intercessor and a Missionary in sharing her substance to several ministries, friends and the needy, especially children here and abroad.

In the many years preceding 2014 Kathleen was classified as a “HONEYCOMB” and faithful member of Meadow Brook Church which status she lost to illness.

Kathleen enjoyed 105 beautiful years of life and danced at her centenarian party in 2009. For the past three years required intensive nursing care succumbed on the 3rd of September 2018.

She leaves behind to mourn, one Sister, Adell Tomlinson, Sons, Herman Barnett and Roderick Barnett; Nephews, Chris Tomlinson and Richard Barnett; Nieces, Sonia Barnett and Claudia Barnett; Grand Niece, Charissa Brown and a host of other relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be on Friday, September 14, 2018 from 1:00 PM til 6:00 PM. at Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th St. Ocala, Florida.

Funeral Service will be on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Meadow Brook Church,

Rev. Tim Gilligan, Pastor,  Final Interment will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Garden, Ocala, FL.
